What is the CARES Act?
The Coronavirus Aid Relief and
Economic Security (CARES) Act
was passes by Congress and
signed into law to provide
economic relief from COVID-19.
The CARES Act Higher
Education Emergency Relief
Fund-IHE/Student Aid provides
funding to institutions to provide
emergency financial aid grants to
students whose lives have been
disrupted, many of whom are
facing financial challenges and
struggling to make ends meet.
Students cannot apply for
assistance directly from the U.S.
Department of Education but
should contact their institutions
for further information and
guidance. Institutions have the
responsibility of determining how
grants will be distributed to
students, how the amount of
each student grant is calculated,
and the development of any
instructions or directions that are
provided to students about the
grant.
Fund Disbursement Information:
Disbursement of CARES Act Funds:
CSBC has been designated to
receive up to $151,472 from the
CARES Act fund, of which one half,
or $75,736 is designated to be
disbursed to eligible students.
CSBC has determined, under
Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES
Act, that there are 35 students who
are eligible or potentially eligible,
and as of August 10th, 2020 has
disbursed funds to the 31 eligible
students.
All students enrolled at the time of
the shutdown were sent a
certification form to request federal
financial aid under this grant,
instructing them to fill out and submit
that form requesting aid.
The institution has determined that
all eligible students who have had
their education delayed due to the
state mandated shutdown of the
school should share equally in the
grant, as they each incurred costs
associated with the shutdown, or
$2,163.90 for the students eligible.
To date, $71,408.70 has been
received by the school and
disbursed to the eligible students
pursuant to the Emergency
Financial Aid Grant.

The Charleston School of Beauty
Culture acknowledges that this
institution has signed and
returned to the Department of
Education the Certification and
Agreement assuring that the
institution has used, or intends to

Courses Available:
Classes start nearly every month. All of our programs prepare you
for the licensing exam and a career in a number of related fields.
Cosmetology is a catch-all or umbrella
field which covers virtually all aspects of
haircare, haircutting, styling, coloring, and
chemical texturing of the hair, also
encompassing skincare, makeup
application, hair removal, manicuring,
pedicuring, and artificial nails.
The Hairstyling course, as the name
implies, teaches those haircare,
haircutting, styling, coloring, and
chemical texturing aspects of
Cosmetology.
The Aesthetics course is centered
exclusively upon aspects of skincare,
makeup, and hair removal from the
Cosmetology curriculum.
The Manicuring courses focus on all
aspects of care and decoration of the
nails of the hand and feet, including
artificial nail applications included in the
Cosmetology curriculum.
The Barbering course offers a
traditional haircutting and shaving
curriculum including shear cutting,
clipper cutting, edging, beard trims and
stying, and other traitional barber
services.
The Barbering with Chemical Services
course is an extended course which
adds back into the modern Barbering
course the traditional barbering
service of hair coloring as well as
offering modern chemical hair
texturizing services such as
permanent waving and relaxing of the
hair.
The Cosmetology Crossover course is
designed for those licensed professionals
who already have a Cosmetology license
to also qualify for a Barbering license.
The Waxing Specialist course is a special
course designed for licensed
professionals who are not authorized
under their current license to perform hair
removal services to become qualified to
do so.

on any of these courses please

that page specifically concerning
your desired course.

Where Successful Careers Begin
Information for Students:
Students are given a hard copy of the
Student Handbook during orientation.
This is your first reference for all rules
and regualtions of the school, policies,
faculty, facilities, courses, and assorted
information.
As the student progresses through their
course of study, they will have periodic
evaluations based upon their scheduled
hours relative to their course length which
will be measured in terms of Satisfactory
Progress, which could affect their
financial aid and enrollment.
A certain level of behavior and decorum
are expected of our students, staff, and
even customers, however some
behaviors are so egregeous as to merit
special attention, such as drug and
alcohol abuse, harassing or abuse.
The Barbering with Chemical Services
course is an extended course which
adds back into the modern Barbering
course the traditional barbering
service of hair coloring as well as
offering modern chemical hair
texturizing services such as
permanent waving and relaxing of the
hair.
The Cosmetology Crossover course is
designed for those licensed
professionals who already have a
Cosmetology license to also qualify for
a Barbering license.
Federal law and school policy works to
insure our students privacy is protected in
their information, with limited exceptions.
Students are also guaranteed certain
access to their file information at an
appropriate scheduled time.
There may come a time in your
academic stay with us that due to
ciscumstances your education may
face a temporary interruption. Leaves
of absence are available for serious
unforeseen or unavoidable problems
and not for scheduled events like
vacations. In such an event, you may
be eligible to request a leave of
absense. All leaves should be pre-
approved. Remember that merely
filling out the form does not
automatically grant a leave.
If the student seeks to withdraw it must
be in writing turned into the office.
There are unfortunate times when for
one reason or another a student must
withdraw from school. We encourage
the student to talk to the staff because
accommodation of the student’s
situation or a leave of absence may
help resolve the issue for the student.
Withdrawal often leaves the student
owing money to the school because
more of the tuition is due under the
refund policy than they have yet
earned under their financial aid award.
Student Withdrawal
Any student who experiences problems
while in school is encouraged to bring
such problems to the attention of the
school in order to resolve whatever
situations arise which can affect the
students’ success while in school.
Students are expected to learn the
aspects of state law which pertain to their
chosen careers. As such the school has
composed a Law Book with relevant
statutes and regulations.
